The
Puzzlers
I was born in Brunswick, Georgia, USA, in 1934. My
family moved around a lot while I was growing up. I finished high school
in Houston, Texas.
Then I joined the army where among other things I attended
the Army Language School (now Defense Language Institute) in Monterrey,
California where I studied Japanese for 18 months. Unfortunately I never got
to Japan. After almost 4 years in the army I went to college and got a
bachelors degree majoring in mathematics at Sam Houston State University in
Huntsville, Texas. Then I went to graduate school at Tulane University in
New Orleans where I got a doctorate in mathematics in 1964. For my career

I like to play with number theoretic and combinatorial puzzles using MAPLE.
That's the reason that you find my contributions here at Carlos Rivera's

Nací en Brunswick, Georgia, EEUU, en 1934. Mi familia se mudó mucho mientras
yo crecía. Terminé la preparatoria en Houston, Tejas. Entonces me alisté en
el ejército donde entre otras cosas asistí la Escuela del Idioma del
Ejército (ahora Instituto de Idiomas de Defensa) en Monterrey, California
donde estudié japonés por 18 meses. Desgraciadamente nunca fui a Japón.
Después de casi 4 años en el ejército asistí a la universidad y obtuve la
licenciatura en matemáticas en Sam Houston State University en Huntsville,
Tejas. Entonces asistí a Tulane University en Nueva Orleans donde obtuve un
